I requested a quote for a move on 3/3. I was contacted by a rep from NJ ELITE MOVERS that offered to complete the move for $130.00; however, the entire move was 750.00.
Let me explain the story in detail.
I found a mover on craigslist to complete my move for $160.00. I received a call from the rep at NJ ELITE MOVERS later that day. I explained that their service was no longer need because I found a mover. She asks how much I was paying. I explained $160.00. She said "Oh, were having a special. Did you get the email? ” I replied "No, I never received an email". Her response was "Oh, that's weird because we can do it for $130.00". I was excited and thought what a great price. So we scheduled everything and I cancelled the other mover on my end.
The day of the move once the movers arrived, I was told that the total move would be approximately $750.00. I called the office and received limited assistance. The person even lied and said she advised me of these fees. That was a total lie! Then she said she didn't believe I found someone to move me for 160.00 and to be honest I don't care what she believed! She even said during the conversation, "Let me call the movers and check because I don't know why its that much." So imagine how I felt!
Why would I cancel a flat rate move in order to pay $65.00 an hour plus all the fees (and probably my first child if it was illegal)? It should've been explained that your company bills for everything under sun. I cancelled the second stop and still had to pay $500.00 for a used bedroom set. That's ridiculous. I don't understand how your company can even come up with those rates. I would hate to see the price to move an apartment. It's probably close to $3000.00.
I'm wrote to them to request some type of refund but didn't get anywhere. I will not stop at just a letter. I'm currently working on notifying as many people as possible to avoid the company. Also, if you don't pay the rate they will threaten to take your furniture to storage until you pay!
1. I would set a reminder in my to post on craigslist my experience with your company and let everyone know the rip off that you are.
2. I contacted the Better Business Bureau.
3. I'm writing reviews on all the following websites about your business or filing a complaint.
I'm not one to complain but this experience was the worst. I could see a hundred dollars even but how does a quote jump from $130.00 to $750.00 and no one at this company takes ownership.
