Paid in full 2 AT&T accounts. NCO was the company originally sending the letters and calling. When I called them to pay of the balance they transferred me to Source Receivables Management. I paid both accounts and waited for a letter confirming the payment. The statement never came.
In January NCO started again harassing me by phone (which I did not answer) and by mail. When I got their last letter and saw what they were trying to collect I called them immediately.
NCO said they did not have records of the payment of $604.22 (the AT&T account with higher balance).
I asked the lady I talked to why they did not apply and her answer was: - "We outsourced your accounts. Do you have any proof from them that you paid in full?" I said I never got a notice saying I paid in full, and NCO should have records of the payment. So she said: -"What is the phone # of the agency you paid the bill?" and I said: "I paid NCO and I believe this is the phone number I dialed, two years ago, and paid the balance in full." - "No mam', you did not pay us, you paid another agency and we need their contact information so we can get some proof that you paid the bill."
I really started to get very mad and I screamed back to her: - "Are you deaf? As far as I know I called NCO and I thought I paid you, guys. If you outsourced my accounts to another collection agency, how come YOU don't know to who?"
Thanks to God I kept records, confirmation numbers and the other # that NCO transferred me to. Called them and talked with the person that dealt with my payment. She told me she would send me the statement proving I paid the bill.
This happened in the beginning of January and I haven't yet received anything from either agency.
