On 1/13, I ordered two books from Borders on-line store (borders.com). The web site offered an additional savings if I ordered used books, so I selected this option since the books were for a school report my 3rd grader was doing. At checkout, the website offered a 2-3 business day shipping option for an additional price. Since we wanted the books by 1/19, I selected this 2-3 business day shipment option and paid the additional $11.97 for it. As of 1/21, the books had not arrived (clearly outside of the 2-3 business day promise that I paid for). Upon calling "customer care" (yeah, right...), I was informed that this shipment option did not apply to used books. I informed the barely-English-speaking person that I had selected that shipment option only because the website offered it to me at checkout. I was told that they were very very sorry, but the website had been experiencing some problems that they were working, and it should not have offered that option. So I would be interested to know how many people paid the $12 while the website was "malfunctioning, " andI wonder how much $ Borders made off of this little scam. Will be interesting to see if the website is ever "repaired." I will never buy at Borders again—either on-line or in-store. I expected more from this organization...
