Representative lied about ability to get out of credit card machine contract

I was approached at the beginning of October by a Retriever representative about changing my credit card processing from my current company to Retriever. I told the Rep that our business was for sale or closing at year end and I didn't want to sign anything I couldn't get out of. He verbally assured me that the credit card machine lease company would let me out of the lease if I went out of business. The top of the lease agreement said 4 Year Non-Cancelable Lease. After closing our business and contacting the leasing company, I was told that was not the case and I would be liable for the entire agreement or I would have to transfer the lease. There was no negotiating. After trying to get back to the Rep via Retriever, they only said they would forward my calls to him. This has been going on for a week now with no response from the Rep and quite honestly, I don't expect any. I told the Customer Service Agent at Retriever that I would contact the BBB, our local Chamber, etc and she said she wasn't concerned about any of that.

Be aware that this company will promise you anything to get you to sign the contract and then you are "on your own". They are using deceptive business practices to get your money.
