This company called my place of work today and left a message for me. When I called them back they would not tell me who they were or what they wanted. When I pressed them for the name of the company I was hung up on. Not once but 6 times as I was determined to find out what and who they were. Finally, I got them to tell me the name of the company and they acknowledged who they were "Regional Adjustment Bureau". Normally, a name would describe somewhat what they do but this one with the name "bureau" implies something of a federal agency in my mind. When asked what they did I would be hung up on... Just simply dead air. How rude is that! So I called back about another 6 times and finally got someone to talk to me but would still not tell me what kind of company they were or what they wanted until I gave them my social security number which I absolutely refused to do since she would not tell me what they wanted and of course, you got it hung up on me again. So, the reason I am writing this is because they are a "collection company" and they are required to let people know that is what they do and why they are calling. This company is operating in my personal opinion on a trickery and deceipt atmosphere. I recommend not giving anyone your SSI number until they tell you what the heck the want AND why they are calling. I mean really! Just give us your name and social security number first and then we will tell you why we are calling you... I dont think so! Even if this is a legitimate collection company they should review their collection practices and current laws and give people a bit more courtesy and respect... After all, I was the one who called them back!
