TxCollect, Inc. Dba CTI sent me a letter stating that their client, Palisades Collection, LLC has placed my account in their office for collection in the amount of $1174.66.
I called the number on the letter and asked what it was about and the gentlemen on the phone requested my social security number. I refused to give it to him and he stated he had to have my social security number to validate the account. I told him that I have never had an account with ATT Wireless and didn't owe this debt and said this was a fraud. He continued to state that he needed my social security number to validate the account after I had already given him the reference number on the letter, my name, and my address.
He said that he wouldn't tell me anything about the account unless I gave him my social security number. I hung up with him and I am very worried that they will put this on my credit report or what this is about? I have never had an account with ATT Wireless. What do I do to clear my name of this, because I see that this company (TxCollect, Inc. Dba CTI) does indeed exist and is a legitimate collection agency? Please help
