I bought a phone from Sprint PCS for my husband after Xmas last year. When I purchased the phone (online) Sprint emailed me asking about service for this unit. I emailed back explaining that it was for my husband, gave them his number as reference, and that the unit would be "switched" to this number. Thought that was end of story.
After my husband "switched" his number to the new unit, the bill was sent for total amount of the new unit - of which was already paid. He called Sprint, explained and argued and the charge was dropped. Thought that was the end of the story.
I then got a bill in my name for the service of this unit. When I called Sprint and explained the situation, they needed the credit card number used to look up the transaction. My wallet had been stolen two months previously and I did not have record of the number. They said they would work on it. I did not receive any more bills but then received a collection notice for interest accrued for the service account that was never established. $54.00 When I called to explain they said all that they know is that Sprint is demanding $54.00. This collection has been placed on my credit report.
Absolutely ridiculous.
