I was called by American Resort Planners to see if I wanted to advertize our timeshare in Orlando, FL for sale. They did not promise they would sell the timeshare, only that they would advertize it, saying they had "many corporate clients" who bought these type of properties for their clients use. This was the first time I had ever dealt with this kind of company, and as we were looking to sell our timeshare, and I was asked for advertizing money up-front, I believed the representative and we agreed on the contract. It was sent to me immediately and I returned it by overnight mail. When they received it, my credit card was billed for $1945.00. I was told that the advertizing company (American Resort Planners) would see that any offeres were forwarded to me and I would be the one to decide whether to act or not on any offers. This was December. I was instructed, if I had not gotten any offers, to contact ARP every 3 months and after they verified that I had an active account, the timeshare advertizement would continue to run for another 3 months or until I contacted them to say it was sold. I did this in March, June and when I hadn't heard from anyone by September, I called again. Except there was no one there but a recording saying ARP was no longer doing business, although my ad would continue to be honored. Scammed!
