Selected Berger/Allied because they had Company offices in both Atlanta (moving from) and Austin (moving to). Bought expensive replacement cost insurance. Move was almost a full truck, 250 boxes and furniture. Company backed almost all of the boxes including all of the valuables. We packed books and office material.
Unl;oaded in Austin last week in June. All boxes and furniture accounted for. Opened all but 25 boxes first week in July and then went to SC for the summer. Returned to Austin middle of Septemeber and opened remaining boxes. A very expensive Bang & Olufsen cordless phone was missing. Filed a claim and it was denied twice. The reason is that we signed for al of the boxes and did not note an exception at the time.
I explained that I did not inventory the contents of each box when they were packed and the driver would not want to wait around for a week while we unpacked all of the boxes. They responded by saying we must have "accidently thrown the phone away with the packing paper since all boxes were accounted for." Since Austin is a "green" city, all boxes had to be flattened and all packing paper had to be folded and tied in bundles for removal. My wife and I unpacked everything ourselves and flattened everything. My response to Allied, it was never packed in Atlanta.
They denied the claim under appeal because "... Cannot determine that the phone was lost while in our posession".
It is simply my word against theirs despite buying an expensive insurance policy.
DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE, unless you inspect and inventory everything going into boxes and do not sign the drivers report until you unpack and re-inventory every item in every box if you do not want to get RIPPED OFF!
