I stopped at Target to get some Fiber One granola bars that were on sale. They didn't have any on the shelf of the flavor I wanted. I commented at check out and asked for a raincheck. They said I needed to wait for a manager and soon she came over and asked what I wanted. I explained and she said please wait and walked off. It turned out she was going to look to see if they had any.
When she came back she said she didn't see the flavor (chocolate chip) I wanted or the tag at the shelf. I walked back with her and pointed out the tag (and empty shelf) and she put the info into her hand held devise and said they should have 120 of them. She called for additional assistance and when the assistant came she said "oh no our inventory must be wrong."
When I again asked for a raincheck they said it was limited to items on hand. However they said according to their computors the store 8 miles away had 24 in stock.
I asked if they could verify that (Because they earlier said this store had 120) and they said I needed to go to customer assistance (and wait in another line).
I did, and the person called the other store and had to wait 10 minutes on hold. When he finally asked them they replied they had 24 in stock but would not send someone to confirm they were actually on the shelf or hold 10 for me.
SO I LEFT AND DID NOT GO TO THE OTHER TARGET based on their inability to correctly tell me how many were in the store I was at.
Why couldn't I just get a rain check instead of wasting 30 minutes of my time to be told they couldn't help me?
Why couldn't they have said we will not iissue a rain check as soon as I asked instead of checking to see if I had looked in the right place for the product I wanted?
This was a very dissappointing trip to target and I will remember it when I deciding whether to go again.
