On December 28 I contacted Direct TV due to a charge of $166.81 that was taken out of my debit/banking account on December 24th. I am NOT on auto pay with Direct TV. I DO make manual payments each month and have never been late. The charge in question was not even applied to my account!
It took three different conversations with Direct TV employees, to determine that this charge went toward someone else's account. Even after Direct TV admitted their mistake, they said it would take 5 to 7 days to correct this. Funny how the money travels so fast in one direction, but not the other!
Of course, I could go to my bank and change my debit card to a new number that Direct TV would not have. But in doing so, I would have to change all of my many other on-line accounts. This was out of the question.
Direct TV has a very severe security problem, or else they intentionally commit theft to fatten their bottom line.
I demanded that this other person's account be dis-associated with my account. This one charge was eventually corrected. Since then, the same thing has happened on several more occasions. Each time I have to jump through hoops to prove to Direct TV that they made an error.
The last time this happened, I informed them that if this happened again, they would no longer hear from me, but from my attorney. I also informed them that I would submit a report to 'complaint', and that I would construct a web site detailing Direct TV's shoddy and illegal business practices. I have since discontinued my service with Direct TV. I have found that Net-Flicks (on-line) is a far supperior service, being much less expensive, and not serving up commercials that I have to pay for.
As of May 15 even though I am no longer a customer, Direct TV is STILL illegally taking funds from my account!
The web site has been started, and it will include all of the communications I have had with Direct TV. Over time it will be advertised online at as many public forums as I can find. I expect it will grow to also include other Direct TV customer's experience with similar issues.
The web site address is: www.direct-tv-scam.com
There is a guest book at this site. All current and previous customers are welcome to post messages in my guest book. I may not have time to publish all of them to the website. But I'll do my best to publish the more outrageous examples of Direct TV's willingness to SCAM their customers.
And yes, my attorney now has copies of all my communications, along with the website address. Perhaps the web site will lead to a class action suite against Direct TV!
