I had a small fire in my home, due to faulty radio, on March 13. Shortly after fire department left, a man saying he was from Paul Davis resturation company presented me with a business card and explained to me what Paul Davis does. He told me that my insurance company has them on a list of approved contractors to do resturation of my home to "pre-loss or better condition." He seemed to be very nice and compasionate of what my children and I just went through. I explained to him that my husband had passed away less then a year ago, and I can't believe this was happening to us. He promised me that Paul Davis would have us back in our home in 3-4 weeks at the most, and would be very caring with us, our home, and our property, especially since we have been through enough already. At the time I felt very compfortable with them and what he was promissing. He showed me their oath on the back of the business card, and assured me they stand very firm on that oath. He had me sign some paperwork, he told me it was giving him permission to work on my home... Which I found out later was a contract. I still do not have this contract so I can read what I signed.
Work was started on my home, "pack out" is where they pack your entire home into boxes to take to a wharehouse to clean, pack back up and return to my home. They are required to do an "inventory" of everything, which they did not do. The contractors they brought into my home, who caused more damage then the fire, because it was "smoke" damage, was beyond insane. They then had to hire more people to come fix the shotty work. They do alot of, "well the floors are fine, but the insurance company has allowed X amount of money, so lets give you this instead." I have now learned this is how they "get out of doing harder work" They also damaged items at their wharehouse, like shattering glass, mirrors, statues. The distruction to my personal property is heart breaking. My children are devistated because alot of what they distroyed belonged to their Daddy, who again passed away less then a year before. These were things they could still physically touch of Daddy, and they are in rubble now.
My home is still not done, they can't locate items, or paperwork (inventory lists) the items they have returned to my home are still covered in soot, which I might add is a health hazard, they have returned priceless items in peices, are making excusses, that they didn't damage the items. My children are emotionally scared by the level of intensity on which they are doing nothing to "right their wrongs" I can't have the replacement items delivered, because the work is not done and the house is not cleaned, this would only damage our new items as well. We are all very conserned about the rest of the items in which are still not returned to our home. I was also made aware how my furnature which has been deamed "unsalvageable" is in the homes of some of the employees, including the project manager.
So as we sit, we still are not in our home, we have been lied to, stolen from, taken advantage of, emotionally destroyed, we have a very hard time with the word "trust", and much more disatached to to things we held dear. I am a young widow, with three children, that Paul Davis took for a ride.
