Whomever has home insurance with Homesite you should immediately another insurance company. I beg you to leave NOW... Or you will be sorry.
We had a fire in our home on 10/6. Our entire kitchen custom cabinets, granite counter tops, sink, molding, backsplash, window trim, floor, and personal items were destroyed by either the smoke, fire and chemicals that was used to put out the fire.
Homesite sent a restoration company (Paul Restoration Company) to our home along with an adjuster. After looking over the damage and taking several pictures the restoration company sent a demolition crew and cleaning crew to our home to demo our kitchen. The entire kitchen was gutted down to the beams. Homesite put us in a hotel for 2 weeks while this took place.
When we got back into our home we noticed more damage that was missed and immediately contacted our claims rep. She said the adjuster would come back out to note the damage. Well, this is where it all went down hill. The adjuster lied and told her that he came back out but his camera broke he never did because I work from home and was home all day.
After about 3 weeks the adjuster came back with an unreasonable and unfair estimate. The amount that he wrote for was not even half the cost to repair our kitchen back to the state that it was. When we contacted our claim rep she was rude and basically told us it is what it is. Then after they sent the check I told them that I wanted to appeal because we can't get anything repaired for the amount. After weeks of not getting any responses and when we did speak with our rep she was rude. We also contacted her supervisor several times and he never returned our call still to today. We asked if we can get the estimate that the restoration company had but they would never give it to us. We finally had to get an attorney and guess what they started ignoring his calls. It is now February and we are still without a kitchen. My attorney finally got Homesite to send in the estimate from Paul Davis Restoration company and the amount was almost exact to the estimates that we gotten from other contractors to repair our home.
I have all my pictures of before the fire, after the fire, and after the demo and the state that it is in now.
I have several different estimates from different companies. My lawyer did speak with someone recently and they basically said they was not going to give us any more money and we should pay to get it done and send them all paid receipts and then they may reconsider. My attorney advised them that we didn't have that kind of money that's why we purchased home owners insurance but they still said oh well!
Hopefully we will be going to court soon because I miss having a kitchen.
