More than six years ago I signed up for this book club's initial offer to receive five books for just the price of shipping. I thought it was a good deal at the time because their catalog showed a book I was interested in. That is where the trouble started.
I did not get a chance to read the full terms of agreement before I joined, because it did not become available until after I signed up. After a couple of months, they started to send me books I did not order, along with the bill. I sent them back right away. At that point I decided to delete the account. I was not able to, but I did delete as much information as I could from the account. They sent me another package of books a month later, which I sent right back to them, unopened.
Book of the month club then decide to charge me for those books, which I disputed with them and won my case, and was able to reverse the charges. However, about a few months after I joined, they sent me some fictional charge about some books I had committed to buy. I ignored the charges, since I did buy ANYTHING and did not agree to their terms, which is why I deleted my account.
That same finance charge has gone though several collection agency's over the years, until finally being acquired by RJM Acquisitions LLC in December. Sending me a notice in February, I decided to ignore the notice like all other fictitious bills being sent by Book of the month club. However, after reviewing my credit card report today, I have discovered that RJM Accquistions has put a collection notice in my report, lowing my overall credit scores. I am now taking action to fix this mess I am in, and will expect them to erase this make believe charge. Be warned: do not buy books from this company! They are a scam! And will hurt your credit if you don't pay!
