National Moving Network - Progressive Van Lines
Never Use Progressive Van Lines! Huge ripoff! Miami, Florida

May I surfed the internet looking for a moving company to move me from Orlando, Florida to Los Angeles, California in July. I came across National Moving Network and they seemed pretty reassuring that they could get me to California on the dates I needed and at a great price, $1555.00, which included the $600.00 deposit. They assured me that the price would not go up. Not once did they tell me that they were a brokerage, and that they would not be the ones moving my personal belongings.

Early July Progressive Van lines contact me to tell me that the truck will be at my storage unit at 8 am the next morning. Of course, not telling me that they were Progressive, not National. Two guys finally show up at 3:30 pm the next day in a small Ryder rental truck (you can imagine how I felt) and start to load my stuff, as it starts to rain, they jump in the truck to stay dry and leave my belongings in the rain, one which included a mattress that goes in my couch.

Since they were so late, I had to be to work after the rain cleared. I went to notify them that I had to go and handed the driver a Playstation 2 asking him to please make sure it did not get wet and got on the truck in a safe place. He reassured me they would take care of everything and nothing was left behind. That same night that I got off work, I went to my storage unit to make sure everything was taken. Of course, they left my storage unit completely open and my mattress to my couch was left.

Apparently they ordered pizza while they were there and thought it was funny to throw all of their pizza and trash all over my storage unit and on the street outside of it. The next morning I went back to take pictures and look around. I found pieces of my stuff swept in the corner of the storage unit next to mine. When I recieved my shipment later on, they must have disposed of the other pieces before delivering my things, because I didn't recieve any part of the things that were broken.

I called the driver and asked him why he left my mattress and his reply was that it was soaking wet, knowing very well that it was completely their fault for leaving it in the rain so they could stay dry. I told him that he needed to pick up the mattress, it was now dry, so he did. I called his supervisor and he said he would look into it, didn't happen.

July 15th- Progressive calls me to tell me they will be here the next day and I need to have $2256.28 in cash, that is on top of my already paid deposit, so my grand total was nearly $3000.00, just for the truck, not including all the damages I was about to suffer. All of the money had to be paid before they would even open the door to the truck for me to see my boxes, cash in hand, they were home free.

They unload my things along with someone elses, willing to give me their stuff, no questions asked, I had to almost twist their arm to put it back in the truck and take it back to the warehouse because it wasn't mine. Every box was so smashed. I look through every box as they unload them, most everything was damaged. After they were done unloading, literally half of my things were missing. Which included the Playstation 2 that the driver from Florida had promised to take care of for me, the couch mattress that they came back to get after leaving it, pieces of most of my sons toys, parts of his bed, my bed frame, a bookshelf, all of my encyclopedias, every Playstation game and DVD that we had, sheets, towels, baby swing, ect. Ect. Ect.

Not to mention, everything was damaged, from my box spring to my bed to my TV, 5 disc DVD player, couches, entertainment center, desk, ect. Everything was chipped, broken, ripped and bent. All of my sons baby pictures and family pictures were wrapped so they couldnt get ruined, but they were soaked in water which ruined them. Glass was broken, even though I wrapped them thoroughly in towels.

Late July I make a claim with Progressive and National of all the things I am missing, about 30 boxes and lots of big items. They tell me it will be 4-8 weeks to get my claim settled. 12 weeks later, I have had no sign of any settlement or anyone call me back after atleast 50 calls.in fact, all I have gotten was several hang ups, lots of answering machines, really rude customer service representatives who wont help at all and no names. I can't even get the presidents name out of either company. I've asked for all papers in my file and they refused. I've asked to speak to any supervisor, I'm not picky, just any supervisor, they all seem to be out or some made up holiday that everyone is off for except the operator.

I've called the warehouse in Florida which is their mailbox, which is always full, so I can never get through. So I contact the San Jose warehouse where my stuff was stored for a few days and they say that they have lots in lost and found, but when I start to describe or give a Job Number, they suddenly don't have anything in lost and found anymore. I have tried repeatedly to contact both companies and have gotten no result, no promise to fix any of my damaged things or any insurance settlement.

Bottom Line - I will NEVER do it again. I spent double the amount quoted and promised, and it wasn't worth it. Next time, I'll rent a U Haul and do it myself. Anyone out there who has any suggestions, please contact me. Everyone else who is looking into moving companies, DO NOT use National Moving Network or Progressive, you will not get all of your stuff and most of it will be damaged, trust me, I learned several thousand dollars later! I've never been so disappointed and disrespected. I don't see how the presidents of these companies or the department of transportation doesnt care about the problems in their home states.
