Z-Tel is billing me for phone service I never received from them. It is $58.95 and continuing. They took so long even getting back to me to tell me whether I was approved or not, that I found a better, cheaper and more reliable phone service company (Sage Telecom) the day after I filled out for Z-Tel's website application. The new phone company was able to call SBC Ameritech and secure my line within 24 hours, while I was still waiting to hear anything from Z-Tel. I could not get ahold of anyone at Z-Tel to tell them to nevermind, that I'd found a different company. Z-Tel never told me that I was approved or that they secured my line.
After receiving the first bill, I called their customer service and was told that I have service with them. I told them that I never received their service because my new phone service company worked with SBC Ameritech to take over my lines, and I have the confirmation on my voice mail. They said they would investigate and report back to me. They never did, other than to send me another bill.
Z-Tel's application process and customer service is horrible. They insist that they provided service to me and I owe them, even though I had proof that they never provided phone service.
