Ip-off retaliation rude operators & rude customer service outrageous fees for worthless service filing complaint with FCC

Against our better judgment we switched our local phone service from SBC Ameritech to McLeod USA. HUGE mistake.

We received a call on a friday morning from McLeod Rep stating the service was switched. That was the last call we received; our phone was not working. We immediately called to report the problem. Rude operators/customer service reps hung up on us, threatened us, told us we had to pay them $95 to fix the problem.

We then DEMANDED we be swtiched back to SBC Ameritech and informed McLeod we will be filing a complaint with the FCC for their poor service.in retaliation, McLeod USA REFUSED to switch us back and said we have to wait 30 days to have the phone service repaired. We then called SBC Ameritech and SBS delivered the standard forms to McLeod to switch us back to SBC.

However, McLeod would not switch us back, stating at first that they were waiting on a special form (a form that SBC states is a standard form that they send with all of their papers when a switch is made). After nearly two WEEKS with no phone service, SBC finally sent their own Tech out to fix McLeod's error (the error was McLeod's fault because they had us on the wrong phone lines and SBC had to fix it for them). SBC did not charge us to do the repairs.

After 30 days, McLeod finally swtiched us back (they are reportedly allowed 30 days to switch you back).

However, when they switched us back, they intentionally cut off the service without letting us know and again we were without phone service. To add insult, we then received an OUTRAGEOUS bill from McLeod USA for phone service! Service we never got! They also charged us for making the switch!

We urge everyone not to consider McLeod USA for phone service. They are rips offs, worthless, con artists, and they retaliated against us when we chose to switch back to SBC Ameritech. SBC Reps tell us that it is routine service to switch a customer, and it should take no more than one day at most. McLeod did this to us so they could charge us a fee; it was retaliation. They are discusting individuals and their service is worthless.

I am personally filing a complaint against McLeod USA with the FCC for this unlawful conduct. Even if they are allowed by law to take 30 days to switch a customer, they cannot keep the customer without service for 30 days in retaliation for the customer exercising their right to complaint and exercising their right to switch phone companies.

We also intend to take McLeod to court over their bill and their billing practices unless they IMMEDIATELY appologize in writing to us and tell us we owe them nothing for such a huge problem they caused us.
