The shipment of my boat was arranged by phone with Goodship international inc. On approximately September 1st to occur on September 22nd. Details of shipment were undisclosed regardless of numerous phonecalls up to September 19th.
September 19th, I made additional attempts throughout the day with no information forthcoming. September 22nd I took the boat to the prearranged location, I had not been given the schedule for the arrival of the truck, the documents that would be required for shipment, or the financial consequences which would result in additional costs.
Upon my arrival to the shipping location, I was informed that additional fees would be charged due to their incompetence. The Truck charged 40$ an hour for waiting because the documents were never given to the driver, thus more time was spent waiting for the business to correct their mistake.
The day after they took posession of the boat, the new owners (who traveled from Germany to ensure safe shipment of the boat) were at Ohare airport, and the company called to inform me that the boat would not be delivered without additoanl information. They requested prompt delivery of the original Title (which the new owner had in his posession), my Drivers licence and social Security #. These requests were not only not previously mentioned but seemed unreasonable and questionable. I had to leave work to accomplish this in the time that they demanded.
Fortunately, we were able to pick the Title up prior the the owners boarding to fly to Gemany. I gave them the additional information and was notified that the title now had to get reviewed for 72hrs, with a 50$ a day storage charge (my responsibility?).
I am extremly upset with the process and incompetence of this company. Their lack of information and suspicious charges and subsequent required information has caused me many hours of uneseccary missed work.
To summarize:
Unecessary phone calls to Germany and their business
Excess costs (Trucker, storage, time lost at work)
Release of the Title (uninformed relenquishment of proof of ownership)
Disclosure of personal information
I was quoted 3021 for services rendered, I expect to pay for those services. I don't expect to pay for the incompetance of a company which claims to be proficiet in this arena. If they cannot operate within their realm of proficiency, they should not offer these services, and more importantly, not charge the customers to remedy their mistakes. This would amount to approximatly 260$ and loss of a days pay (to deliver title).
I would never use this shipping company to my worst ememy. They lead you around by the nose that it's all going to be cool, then leave you sitting on the side of the road with your fingers up your ass! In the meantime you get to pay for their mistakes daily, Jackasses@!
