I have spent around 2 hours reading the various reports on Dishnetwork. I wish I would have done this sooner. I have been subscribed to dishnetwork for 7 months.
I have been receiving my local channels for the past 6 months and all of a sudden I don't. I call to report the problem only to spend and hour on the phone with a tech turning my boxes and television on and off. This does not work either. So they send another box out which does not work either.
I have since moved and asked for the "dish move". I called to make an appointment to have the dish moved. I was asked to pay in advance for the move (I did that). I was scheduled for 9-12-03. I took off from work, no one showed up, not did any one call.
I called late that evening only to get rude customer service. After talking to someone in CS and then transferred to their "supervisor" who both told me the best they could do was 9-16-03 (which meant no TV for the whole weekend), I was then transferred to the "executive offices" to Paul who was very apologetic and did not understand the mix up or why no one called. He assured me that someone would call on Sat. 9-13-03. No call.
I call Monday 9-15-03 to the "executive offices" and asked for compensation for missing work and having no service all weekend. They told me that they would refund me the amount for the missing local channels (around $5) and for the days I did not have service ($12). Those are credits I should receive anyway. I asked why couldn't they just refund me the $75 I paid in advance for the move that was not done on the date scheduled. She said she could offer me 2 premium channels for 2 month free ($20) and that was all she could do for me.
So I am just waiting for the contract to end so that I may be rid of them. I hope consumers who are thinking of switching to satellite, DON'T. Please be aware of these big company rip offs, we are just account numbers to them, they could care less if we are satisfied or not with their services.
