In mid August a salesperson by the name of Aaron (have his cell phone number) stopped by to introduce the system. He showed his own Iphone and mentioned that in addition to the equipment to be installed on that day, a two camera and a DVR system would be installed within a month at no cost. He also added that as long as I maintain continuous service for one year I have the option to stop the service and keep the equipment. Given the monthly monitoring fee was almost double what ADT and similar companies charge, this seemed to make sense and I decided to give it a go. I would have paid around $20 more than ADT but would keep the equipment at the end of one year.
They called me while Mr. Aaron was there to ask me about the sales experience, which is a total biased situation. This should have been done at a later time. Then a few days later Monitronics called to verify the service. They said that it is for 5 years! And if I cancel before there would be significant penalties involved. During this telephone conversation I did not agree to 5 years.
I immediately called Platinum to inquire about the cameras, DVR and the contract term. They told me that the cameras and the DVR was not listed on their paperwork and there is nothing they can do about it. I received a similar response for the contract term. I called Mr. Aaron numerous times since then, left messages but he has not called me back. I strongly believe Mr. Aaron forgot to include certain things on the contract. He crossed of certain things and added some other things to the original print contract and it became quite confusing to check and verify if he entered everything he said on the contract. I called Platinum to have them contact Aaron to call me but to this day, all my requests have been ignored.
Recently, I received a notification that my account is overtaken by ASG (1877 227 3274). Contacting them also did not resolve anything. I've read similar rip off reports on this company (Platinum) on this site so I decided to write my own story to share it with others who might come accross the same salesperson.
