If you are considering using APX Alarm Company, stay away! We were approached at home, like many, and told they would install a free alarm system in our home, all we had to pay was the monthly monitoring fees. Our sales rep was Aaron Alwood.

When the contract was being written, we needed one more piece of equipment but the sales guy couldn't cover that last piece. I called another monitoring company while he sat in our home to see if we were getting the same deal or if Brinks or ADT could give us a better deal. When ADT could match and cut the price of the "last needed item" in half, the sales guy agreed to do the same. It brought the price to $99 for the piece of equipment. He wrote in the contract that it would be broken into three monthly payments.

We were also told that we could give the same deal to friends and family. For each home we recommended we would be given a free month. Our neighbors signed up the next day and we called it in, were told to call in two days later to make sure that it was processed. This was confirmed and I was told it would be reflected on our bill. A month passed.

Today I received our credit card bill, showing our monthly fees of $44.99 and $33 for the 1/3 of our equipment charge. I called because I was told that our "referral credit" would be reflected on this bill. I was told by this customer service rep (Christian) that it was still being processed. He didn't know when it would be reflected.

I was told that they would listen to my previous call, confirming the service rep had indeed told me that this credit would be reflected on our bill and if it did they would then "make things right." They would get back with me.

I'm concerned because everything I have found on APX tells me that this will not be resolved. If this does not get resolved, I would like to look into a class action law suite along with the others that have been wronged by APX. It is not right that an alarm company has so many unresolved reports against them. Companies that give you information, should have to stand behind what they have told many customers.instead, these lies get overlooked again, and again. I have looked into Brinks and ADT and they do not even closely compare!!!

Other tidbits that are frustrating/concerning:

The sales rep (Aaron Alwood) also told us that we could call the company while away to set or unset the alarm or to confirm the status of the alarm, set or unset. We were later told by the technician that installed the equipment that this was false.

Aaron also told us, like many others, that would would have the "free move." That's all that was written on the contract "free move". He explained that unlike Brinks, they did not uninstall equipment when you move to a new home.instead, they install the latest equipment in your new home at no charge. No installation, no equipment fees, just new equipment and all you pay is your monthly monitoring fees. We confirmed this with him several times through asking for clarification, repeating things he had said back to him and asking if we "got this right."

We were also told that if we moved to an area that APX didn't service this would not be a problem. APX would withdraw the contract or refer us to another alarm company. He was pretty confident that they covered the entire United States. So many reports that I have read have been people in these same situations. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that will all be a problem when we move...
