I, hashem h., 79 years old retiree from tampa, fla became a victim of platinum protection deceptive paractices. On aug. 3rd. a young man who introduced himself as brandon dooley of utha with platinum protection showed up at my house with a promise of free home security system both installled free & monitored for free for as long as i maintain their system.in return he said all i had to do was to place their company loggo in my front yard. Mr. Dooley explained the reason for the free system & monitoring is that platinum protection prefers to help people like me out!!! Instead of speding hundreds of thousand of dollars on advertising. After i repeatedly asked mr dooley are you certain there are no charges, mr. Dooley repeatedly confirmed that both installation & monitoring was free at no charge, and all i had to pay was one $47.99 activation fee, he then procceded with the paper work, and not once did he ever mention the there days grace period to cancell this contract. On aug. 26th. 2009 i received a letter from monitronics, which is a sister company of platinum protection stating my worst fear; a 60 month contract which obligates me to pay $47.99 a month for the next 60 months. After repeated calls to both platinum protection & monitronics, i was put on hold & transfered back & forth between the two companies. Only to be told that i had three choices, 1st: keep the system & just pay. 2nd: sell the system to someonelse. 3rd; pay 80% of the entire contract. You can only imagine for someone at my age (79 yrs.) & retired with a small pention & social security $47.99 a month is substantial amount of money. Then a few days later, i found out i was not the only person victimized by mr. Dooley & platinum protection and there has been 5 other people in my neighborhood alone incuding my next door neighbor who was also victimized. As of this writting all the victims & i are in process of contacting the local & national media in order to stop both platinum protection & monitronics which are one of the same with the hope no one else falls victim by these lowlives. Please be aware of platinum protection & monitronics. And as for the salesman mr. Dooley, he never once returned any of my callls, & after a few days cancelled & turned off his phone service only indicating more of his guilty part in all of this, but the person who installed the system did answer my phone call and told me about how platinum protection actually provide classes for their salespoeple on how to go after both senior citizens & immigirants as they are the easiest targets to be defraud, and i guess they hit the jackpot because i am both a senior citizen & an immigrant. At my age i don't know how long more i be alive but i promise you, i will fight this fraud disguised as a legitimate company to my last living breath.
