How to ruin a Christmas!

DO NOT use this company unless you enjoy being treated rudely.

I placed my orders on-line on December 16th for delivery on December 21st - a Monday. On the morning of the 20th I received a call from the recipient of one of my orders thanking me for the flowers. I was surprised that they had been delivered a day early because the Blooms N Roses' website clearly states that delivery is not available on Sundays in certain areas. That's fine. I wanted a Monday delivery anyway as I knew everyone would be in church and visiting on Sunday. When I didn't hear from the recipient of the second order I started to wonder. Late Sunday evening I finally received a call asking if I had sent them flowers. I responded yes, but why would they need to ask? Well the florist had attempted to deliver the arrangement on Sunday and with no one home they left the flowers with a neighbour and also left a note on the recipients door. I have no idea what conversation went on between the neighbour and the delivery person but the neighbour thought the arrangement was for her, which she opened and her kids helped themselves to the candy canes that formed part of the arrangement. Of course, the person for whom the flowers had been ordered went over to pick up the arrangement only to find it picked apart, no card - just the pick that holds the card, and of course unwrapped!

Needless to say I was quite upset that my delivery instructions were not followed and also upset with how things had turned out. I called Blooms N Roses the very next morning only to be treated rudely by David, the Manager! He said that I chose the 20th as my delivery date which I know is a lie. When I reviewed my invoice from their website I note that no delivery date is recorded. How convenient. Then I was told that if it was the candy canes I was worried about that the recipient could drop by their store and pick up a few more! I could not believe the auducity of this man. He basically absolved himself of all responsibility for this order and the message that came across loud and clear was tough luck lady. I couldn't believe the very, very poor customer service.

I followed up my telephone conversation with a scathing email to which no response was rendered, as expected.

My husband followed up with a call to the store later that afternoon but no one answered - I suspect they have caller ID. He then tried the 1-800 # and got through only to be treated rudely, by David again, with "What are you going to do about it, you're in Thunder Bay". My husband suggested a quick trip to Mississauga was easy enough, and asked to speak to the owner. David hung up.

Two more things worth mentioning is that they indicate "free shipping" but charge a service fee on top of the cost of the arrangement which to me is no longer free shipping. They also indicate a GST rate of 6% - it has been 5% for how long now. So I assume they just pocket this additional 1% - that may not sound like much but if they do a million in sales a year they are pocketing $10,000.00

This whole experience has been a nightmare. I have ordered on-line from many florists in the past and have never had any problems.in the future I will stick with the florists that fall under the FTD licensing. Bottom line here is, DO NOT USE THIS FIRM.
