I have been a client of Nicor Services ever since its inception. I have always had Trade Winds service my AC & furnace. On the most recent visit the service man told me I needed a new furnace because the heat exchanger was cracked. I said if it was cracked why did my CO detector not alarm. He said b/c the CO levels were at 200 ppm & my detector did not alarm until 400 ppm. He also told me that my furnace was rusted through in various spots. I asked why no other Trade Winds serviceman had mentioned this. He said b/c he used the hand held camera to view the furnace. After he left I checked my CO detector. It is supposed to alarm at 100 ppm. I also had another heating company check my furnace. The second serviceman told me that there was nothing wrong with my furnace. I asked if the furnace was rusted. He said yes. I asked if there were any holes. He said no. As soon as I can I am cancelling Nicor Services. Oh, yeah, the second company is cheaper too!?
