As many people have known for months now, Waste Management has reduced it's residential pickups in some places to twice a month. This means that if you forget which week that you are scheduled for, that the best result for you will be that you the proud owner of a month's worth of trash. Oh well, I guess that would be my fault.
On the other hand, if Waste Management fails to show up on your designated pickup day, and they did not contact you so that you could adjust with their changed schedule, then that would be a very serious lack of concern for the customer on their part, and most reasonable people would want to cancel the service if that happened to them (i.E. You will be stuck with at least a month's worth of trash). This happened to me last Thursday (11-19-09 I was left "holding the bag"), just in time for Thanksgiving. Note that they even admitted that we were not contacted, but should have been - my guess is that they forgot to tell everyone in my area, because their contact procedure has worked previously for us and we have not changed our phone number - so they probably have a lot of angry customers around here.
Lucky for me, Waste MisManagement is not the only game in town here. There is another service (much better, I found out) called, which picks up every week and is much more flexible with the extras that you can leave out without being charged for them.
I feel sorry for the folks that live in areas where Waste MisManagement is their only option, because WM clearly is not concerned with maintaining the level of service that the customer is paying for. I forgot to mention that when they cut the service in half (from 4 to 2 pickups per month) that the cost for the service remained the same (thats right... Half of the service for the same price). My recommendation for anyone who must choose a waste-removal provider is to stay away from WM unless you have no other option.
Sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company. Plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
