"Lori" is the apparent owner of "Hawk Vanlines" He is the person that emailed me back and forth. If you go on line to search for prices, to move your household belongings, you will find two different ways to get a price. One is an unknown price that you will not know until the truck is weighed, before and after your furniture is in the truck. I did not want this, as I like to KNOW what the cost is going to be before I buy. The other is called a binding contract. That means the company sends you an inventory sheet and you can fill it out, or else the company sends a representative to you and they fill it out and give you a price. Out of almost 15 companies who sent someone to my home, in the center of Montana, United Vanlines came. They gave me a fixed price and said I had about 11,200 lbs. They gave me a copy of the inventory sheet.
Mr. Lori said he would accept their inventory, and beat their price by about $200.00. The Contract I signed with Hawk Vanlines stated he used only "Registered carriers". Also states his rates are honest with no hidden charges, Disassembly of big furniture, protective blankets and padding, my quote also included them furnishing 6 queen size mattress boxes. On the day of my move, which was a Saturday, they showed up in a rented 26 ft. Penske truck, with no protective blankets or padding, and no mattress boxes. Of course the KEY here is, they loaded the truck from top to bottom and probably 20 % or more of my stuff was still in the garage. I called the police to my home to document what was going on. They said it was good I called, but this was a civil matter and their wouldn't be a judge available untill Tuesday as the following Monday was a holiday. The driver was also mad at Mr. Lori as he would not do anything. The driver said he would split the cost of renting a U-haul trailer, the largest we could find was a 5x8, and it still did not hold all my stuff and my half was another $150.00.
They delivered my goods to Az., but did not put mirrors back on the dressers, lost a part to a bedframe, so I had to buy another. I still have probably 15% or more of my stuff in the house in Montana. I hope all of you who read this will call this guy, and tell him you are going to tell at least 10 people. Do not use hawk vanlines.
