July our family was living in Hermitage Tn and we decided to move to Montana after visiting family there late in June. We went online and received several moving quotes from different moving companies. Global Moving out of Brooklyn New York gave us a quote for $1500.00 based on weight of our house hold furniture. We went with them and sent them $375.00 through a debit card from our bank. Pick up date was scheduled for July 13.
On the 13th of July the movers never showed up so we called Global and they said They couldn't be there today but they would be there tomorrow at 9am. July 14 two guys and a truck showed up at our apartment in Hermitage and said they were here to pick up our furniture. We gave them $525.00 in a postal money order and they loaded the furniture into their truck and handed us a bill for $2300.00 with the letter head of J.B. Vanlines. We told the two guys that we had a contract already for $1500.00 total. The guys said that they would unload the furniture if there bill wasn't signed and they would also charge us $150.00 per hour per person while they were unloading it and they would keep the $525.00. We called Global and they explained to us that they had brokered out our move and that the orginall contact was still valued and global said don't worry about it and just sign the contract and global would take care of it. The contract said 7-21 days guarenteed delivery. So we signed the contract and J.B. Vanlines left with our furniture. Our family arrived in Montana on the 18th of July.
We called J.B. Vanlines after arriving in Montana to schedule them to deliver the furniture. They said they would start looking for a truck to deliver the furniture. I was in contact with Global all this time. Septmember 2007 finally came and still no furniture J. B vanlines still hadn't found a truck to deliver the furniture, Finally J.B. Vanlines put the contract out on the internet for their price not the price of the first non binding contract and Riverking Moving out of Memphis, Tn picked up my furniture and when the owner of Riverking Moving (Darren) showed up at my door in Montana he demanded $2300.00 before he would even open the truck. After triing to explain to him that we didn't owe that and we had the money only for the balance of the nonbinding contract plus 10% and even Ben at Global Moving trying to tell Darren (riverking) that we didn't owe that. Darren (Riverking) left with our furniture and put it in storage in Idaho. We have been in contact with the DOT all this time.
After aurguing with Darren since Septmember and not having any luck reasoning with him in October we finally decided to borrow the money and give to him so we could get our furniture so we wired him $2700.00 ($2300.00 $400.00 Storage fees). Darren Riverking Moving said he would deliver the furniture on friday October 26. Marcy (darren's Wife) call us about 2:30 friday October 26 and said that Darren was in Idaho on his way to Montana with our stuff and has broke down and he would be at our house tomorrow. We called Darren on His cell Phone and he confirmed that he was broke down in Idaho and that he would be at our home between 11:00 am and Noon tomorrow (october 27)
Well October 27 came and when and we found out the Darren of Riverking moving was in Memphis TN and was not broke down in Idaho or had never been in Idaho except for when he dropped off our furniture in storage. Darren and Marcy of River king moving was suppose to show up for court on Wednesday October 31 (DOT supeanda them) and they never did. Darren (riverking) sent us the key for the storage unit in Idaho and now we have to go get it after paying a total $3600.00 to these companies and and not getting our furniture delivered.
