Moving Scam - Do not trust this Moving Company in Houston
I just moved from Houston to Austin on Sunday. Pickup was originally scheduled 8/29/09 said they called and I didnt answer, but there was no sign of their call in my caller ID (modern technology) Pickup rescheduled to 8/30/09 prompt pickup (conveniently had another move in Austin to Houston the same day)
Delivery scheduled for 4:30 to 5:30 Sunday afternoon no delivery until 1:45 Monday afternoon. No phone call to let me know. I called the police thinking my furniture and clothes were stolen. I called the company Monday to let them know that my furniture wasnt delivered. My house had water damage so I had a change of location to Public Storage.
The company told me that they would deliver at 1:00 and I could pay by credit card. I then received a call from Jacob (dispatch) and he told me that my rate went up from 490-550 to 708, because I was now moving to a storage unit. I didnt understand why my rate changed seeing as it took them less time to unload my furniture in the storage unit then it would to unload into my house.
The movers (Raul and unknown) showed up at 1:45 and told me that I need to either have cash or a money order. I went to the bank to pick up a money order and returned 30 minutes later, I was then told that they would not take a money order only cash or Western Union. I went back to the bank, refunded the money order and took out money. After an hour of running back and forth in order get my furniture back, they finally unloaded the furniture.
This had to have been the worst moving experience of life. I felt robbed of time, money and peace of mind. I hope that no one experiences this ever again. Moving is stressful enough. I wanted to make you aware of this company in case this continues occurring.
