Refuses to finish paying young college student for computer work and will not return his calls or explain why

I find the owner and her mother to be very rude, especially to their employees and subcontractors. My son (21, full time student at LSU and works part time) did some computer work for Ms. Anton back in March at the request of one of her employees. He worked with Ms. Anton and two of her employees over a period of several days, sometimes for 2 - 3 hours each time. He told Ms. Anton how much he was charging and she offered to pay him in jewerly (with the mark-up of course).

Afterwards, she still owed him $114 which she has refused to pay him. She has given him no explanation. He has attempted to contact her many times and has spoken with her mother many times. I went with him to the store and spoke with her mother who told us she knew nothing about this and would have to speak to Vicki and have her call. She never did. When my son called the store and they put Vicki on the phone, she refused to speak to him.

I finally decided to drop by the store myself. I had never met her. She was all smiles until I introduced myself and told her I just wanted to know what the problem was. She told me I had to set up a meeting with her. I told her that was not necessary, I just wanted to know why my son had not been paid. I was very polite (I was dressed nice, having just come from work and I wasn't carrying my purse so I obviously wasn't a threat). She became very nasty and told me to leave.

I once again asked her what the problem was and she said he had not finished his job (so why did she pay him the jewerly) and we would be receiving some correspondance from her. Her mother had said that last week, which is what I told her. She began screaming at me, and that's when I told her she could speak to others like that, but not me. Then she pointed to a woman who had been sitting at the counter and told me she was a Sheriff's deputy and I should leave. I told her not without resolving this.

The "sheriff's deputy" then pulled out a badge and said she did not want to get involved, but it would be better if I left. Obviously Ms. Anton has major issues so I told the "deputy" fine. As I was leaving Ms. Anton hollared at me to not come back. I responded by telling her I would never buy anything from her anyway. She told me she didn't need my business and I told her that was fine, but I would be sure to tell my friends about her and I hoped she didn't need their business either. All this for $114. I offered to give my son the money, but he told me it is the principle of the matter and she should have explained to him what she felt the problem was/is and given him the opporturnity to fix the problem, if there was one instead of avoiding him. His ethics are a lot better then hers.

I have sent out a request to all my email and facebook people to please not patronize this store and why. I have received many replies assuring me they would not go there and they had heard mostly negative things about this woman and her business practices also. I cannot believe that Baton Rouge still allows this woman to run a business here. And for those people who have had "great experiences" at her store, I would just like to know if you are repeat customers and, if so, how often do you see the same employees in there (besides Vicki and her mother)?
