A simple UPS complaint

Well I have a simple complaint about UPS... The first complaint I have ever had with them, but that merits a report here.

I purchased a PSP (Playstation Portable) off Ebay. The seller shipped it via UPS Ground with Delivery Confirmation and Shipper Release with a scheduled delivery date of July 28. Simple enough, right? Woke up around 7 A.M. That Friday and tracked my package online and saw that a few minutes before 7 A.M. It had been marked as "OUT FOR DELIVERY". So instead of heading back to sleep for a few more hours, I proceeded to wait for the package (given that UPS doesn't deliver at any specific time interval). So I went on with my daily errands and activities while checking my front door every 10-20 minutes. I'd figure that the UPS man or woman would just leave it in between the gap of the main wood door and the thinner metal door that lead into the front of my house as usual when I receive small packages that don't fit into my mailbox.

Well I waited until 5 P.M. [which is when (I assume) that UPS stops delivering packages as that the latest that you can schedule a pickup] and then proceeded to track the package online to see if there were any updates (usually I'd receive packages from UPS anywhere between 12 and 5 P. M).

To my surprise, it said that a few minutes before 12 P.M. That a delivery attempt had been made, but that there was no one available to sign for the package and, thus, my delivery was rescheduled for the following Monday.

Really? Signing for a package that doesn't have signature confirmation on it?
But there was no InfoNotice left on my door (not that there should have been with Shipper Release). Unless the signature confirmation was some sort of good will measure on behalf of UPS to assure me that my package was in good hands.

But maybe, you know, the driver didn't attempt to deliver my package. I mean the doorbell works fine. There was no noise in the house with a decibel level high enough to drown out the sound of someone knocking on the door or even the doorbell. Hell, even when the metal door is opened, it makes a creaking noise loud enough to notify me that someone is at the front door.

So calling UPS Customer Service and having them explain to me what was going on came to my mind. But why waste my time with that? What other possible explanation could they even give me other that sheer laziness on behalf of the driver.

Maybe I could try sympathizing with the driver. It's Friday, he's tired, and he wants an early weekend free from having to constantly drive to different neighborhoods and do the same routine for a long period of time.

But wait, why the hell should I have to wait two extra days just because a driver wants to shave a few minutes off his shift? Would anyone like it if a package they were expecting (especially an urgent package, say like a gift) were delayed because the driver simply didn't feel like doing their job? Don't think so.

Even worse of all, I was lied to. I am not stupid nor am I ignorant. I would have rather you told me you didn't feel like swinging by my house rather that assuming I would fall for such a blatant excuse.

Being that this is the first time I had a problem with UPS, I will be a while before I use them again.
