Providian raised my interst rates to a staggering 27.48% without any notification from them. They also kept assessing me a cash advance charge when I have never ever used this card to get a cash advance. I don't even know my pin#. On the day I called to close my account with them I was told their computeres were down and I would have to call back.
In a few days I called back to close the account. Evidentally they do not log accurate information as to what transpires because a month or so later I ran a check of my credit report and it states that the account with Providian was closed by Providian and not the consumer.
I am filing with the credit reporting agencies to dispute this. Nevertheless, it's an endless procession of sticking it to the consumer, as the mile-long file on this website attests to.
