National Moving (800-722-9775) guaranteed me a price of $0.45/pound up to 8,300 pounds and $0.45/pound over 8,300 pounds, along with a a $250.00 deductible insurance policy for which I paid $240. After giving National Moving a $600. VISA deposit, on a contract that states, "Balance Due: $5,350.00) the moving company (Progressive, 888-486-4844) that showed up informed me that:
1) their charge was really $0.52/pound up to 8300 pounds, and $0.68/lb over 8,300 lbs, and that there no such thing as a $250. Deductible insurance policy.
2) They also offered me a -5% discount if I paid the balance in advance through PayPal& only to find out that Progressive wants a PLUS 6% for using VIsa!
3) Progressive called saying they were arriving 2 days earlier than contract stated, agreeing not to charge for extra packing since we weren't done packing.
4) In order to receive my goods in NH, I had to fork over $9,526.70 in cash to Progressive, $4,176.70 more than the contract stated, and this is before they would unload my stuff! (& again, they already collected $600. Through National.) National has refused to return my calls & e-mails for the last 2 weeks.
Their sister company, National Auto Transport (888-628-2886) gave me a contract., through A-1 Auto Transport (800-452-2880) to ship my 1992 Subaru Loyale for a total of $900. They (Luis Molina; I never thought about it) suggested that I could put boxes in the Subaru without incurring extra cost, but that the boxes wouldn't be insured.
After flying out to NH, A-1 Auto called and told my wife there was an extra $250. Charge for the boxes in the car. She was preparing to leave that day for NH and had no choice but to allow the car, which was by this time, already on its way to NH, to continue (again, what choice was there?)
Additionally, I was today told that the $200. Deposit was non-refundable and is not going toward my total cost, and that there was an additional $250. Charge at the destination. They now want me to give them $1,150.in cash when my car arrives, and I already gave them $200. Through my Visa, for a contract that has a balance due written: $700.00. National Auto Transport also refuses to return my calls for the last week.
I have all kinds of documents, including e-mails, faxes, and contracts to back all of this up.
