I purchased a puppy from Tonya of weloveshihtzus.com. I know her as Tony Resendiz, not Ramirez. Maybe it's her married name, I don't know. Also, I don't know if the address shown above is correct because Tonya informed me that it was her home address but she told Puppyfind.com the address above was her sister's house.
In addition to Tonya's site www.weloveshihtuz.com, Tonya also advertised on puppyfind as Chinese Imp Shih Tzus 4u. I wrote a review on puppyfind.com and Tonya removed it. I then contacted puppyfind, forwarded to puppyfind my emails between Tonya. Puppyfind reviewed the emails and found my review valid and reposted my review.
My dealings with Tonya:
I purchased a puppy from Tonya of weloveshihtzus. I drove down to Williamston, South Carolina to pick up the puppy. Upon returning, I took the puppy to my vet and was informed that puppy had entropian of the eyes (eye lid turning in) and symptoms consistent with collapsing trachea. I was advised by my vet that if it was determined that puppy needed surgery it would cost approximately 500.00. I contacted Tonya of weloveshihtzus.com and she refunded me 350.00. A few days later I had to go back to the vet because the puppy's knee came out of socket. It was determined that puppy had Luxating Patella. I was informed that the conditions that the puppy has is not life threatening. As much as I wanted to keep the puppy I was unable to keep her with these conditions because I have a family member who is ill and I couldn't care for a sick puppy. I emailed Tonya about the luxating patella and she said I should return the puppy; stating she was not going to invest any more money in this puppy and then further stated who knows what else will occur with this puppy. I became concerned after these comments and asked if she was going to euthanize the puppy. Breeder said yes, further stating that had she known of these conditions she would have euthanized her earlier. The puppy has conditions that were not life threatening but Tonya stated she was going to euthanize her. I knew a family who was willing to care for the puppy with these conditions. I asked Tonya if she would be willing to give the puppy to them and send me another puppy. I literally begged her! She said no. I understand that this a business for some breeders but I was really hoping that when she says weloveshihtzus it was also for the sick puppies. I would not send the puppy back to Tonya to be euthanized (after being advised that the conditions were not life threatening.) Emails were going back and forth and she then refunded me an additional 255.00. Between the purchase of the puppy and vet bills I was still out over $600.00 but I wasn't going to send this puppy back to be euthanized. I gave the puppy to the family who was willing to care for her. I may be out money but knowing that the puppy isn't going to be euthanized left me with a clear conscience.
I can't tell you how badly I was hoping that Tonya would have it in her heart to give the puppy to the family. It would have shown that she was breeding for the love of shih tzus and not the money.
The parents of the puppy that I purchased was Marcia and Man. Tonya has since sold the puppy's mom, Marcia. Tonya was selling Marcia with full registration for breeding. I only hope that Tonya shared the information about the puppy that I had, with the person who bought Marcia from Tonya. Tonya also advertises that she does genetic testing on the parents. I wonder if any of the condiitons that the puppy has is genetic related.
I am not blaming Tonya for having a puppy with condtions, nor am I suggesting that all Tonya's (weloveshihtzus.com) puppies are of bad quality. As with humans, puppies can be born with problems but what I can't understand is why would Tonya prefer to euthanize the puppy with conditions that are not life threatening, rather than send her to a home who was willing to care for the puppy. Why? Why wouldn't she just give her to a family, to someone who would care for her if she truly loved shih tzus.
