I have been accepting collect calls from my brother for years, but on mother's day the call I accepted cost me $30 for a ten minute conversation. I was charged $14.40 for the call, then to add to the pain, charged again for the same call.
I called the 800 number to resolve the issue and after a twenty minute hold, was told the second charge was a clerical error and would be removed by the second billing period. I questioned their practice of not informing the customer that the cost for accepting the call was so much higher than normal and was given a song and dance as to why it was so expensive.
Since the bill appeared on my AT&T bill I called AT&T and they responded much like I expected. They spouted out policy like a robot. I called twice, and they insisted on directing my complaint by transferring me to Legacy International, even after I told them I had already spoken to a representative from that Company.
Foolishly I was expecting some support from AT&T to protect me from the unscrupulous practices of businesses like Legacy International - Zero Plus Dialing.
