Yep, Chase is still playing their little games.
I had a wamu card which of course is now Chase. Before wamu the card was providian. Have had this card for years, and never, NOT ONCE have I ever been late.in fact I pay my balance in full every month. (Bet they love me for that!)
As soon as chase took over, low and behold, I am shopping on a weekend and the cc is declined at every store. I simply chalk this up to the wamu/chase conversion, and call chase Monday. They inform me that my payment is late. NO WAY! After arguing with them for a while, I am informed they did receieve my check on the 12th (my due date) BUT they will not post it until the 15th, so the late fee is valid - REALLY! - (BTW this is illegal) After arguing some more and stating the law on when they MUST post my payment, they finally agree to "waive" the late fee - WAIVE??? - They have got to be kidding me. They is no waive - I was never late.
Anyway, fine!
I receive my next statement and look it over very closely and see they charged me interest AND moved my due date up by 10 days. Nice little trick they tried pulling on me. I paid them immediately balance in FULL!
I called Chase and informed them that there were interest charges. They agreed to waive the interest charges from the "late fee" month but all other interest they claim was valid. REALLY? I asked, why this is. The joker on the phone tells me that chase changed their terms at the first of the year and interest accrues from the day you make a purchase. UNBELIEVABLE! I told him that was ridiculous. I have serveral different CC's and I have never heard of such thing.
He absolutely refused to remove the "unjustified" interest charges. It wasn't much - $3.00 - BUT it is the "principal"... And think about it. It is only $3.00 BUT what if they do this to a million people? That's some BIG $ in their pockets. While the chase rep has me on the phone, he says he pulled up my accounts and see that I have 3 accounts with them and if I an unhappy he would be happy to cancel all my CC's. Why would they want to do this? Because I pay my CC's off every month and Chase doesn't make a penny off me. It was so obvious what this shyster company is doing.
Anyway, I got all my statements together, along with a notebook and all the notes that I needed and called back. After speaking with a rep and then a super for well over one hour, it was obvious this shyster company was not going to budge and they were trying to get me to cancel my CC's once again.
I absolutely got nowhere BUT I will tell you this... It may be only $3.00 but they just got another class action suit filed against their ass. If no one else here is going to do it I am!
I filed a class on their ass 2 years ago for trying to screw me on a 0% APR deal, and THEY LOST!!!
To top all this off, I also obviously banked at wamu. As soon as chase took over, I went into the bank, moved my CD that just matured to my Platinum account, asked them to change my platinum account to a "free" account and then moved most all my funds to another bank.
With a platinum account, I accrued interest and all account fees were waived if I kept a min balance in their bank. After transferring everything, of course that min bal was not met now, which is why I changed my platinum to a free account.
I get my statement and believe it or not, I am charged an account fee. Of course I call the bank and talk to the manager, who changed my accounts. After several phone calls and promises, with nothing done, I called one last time. He tells me to call the national phone nimber. I tell him - NOWAY! If he can not take care of this TODAY and insure I am not charged again, I will be in his bank IN PERSON causing a scene. He calls back an hour later and tells me everything has been taken care of. We will see.
Anyone having these kind of issues, you should seriously get ALL your paperwork together and contact an attorney. DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS! I'M NOT!
You see when I filed a CC suit 2 years ago on chase, my attorney explained to me how this is all a cost of doing business for them.

Say they charge half a million people a late charge of $39 - THAT IS 20 MILLION DOLLARS $ THINK ABOUT IT
DO NOT LET CHASE GET AWAY WITH THIS ANYMORE
Don't just moan and groan about it - do something!
I personally am in contact with my attorney now for my issue with chase - I do NOT care if it was only $3 - They need to pay for being the shyster co they are
Anyone else getting screwed by this company, all I can say is stop your moaning and CALL AN ATTORNEY!
