My husband and I purchased a couch, love seat and matching recliner from our local Ashley store. The material used was called Durahyde. I loved that it looks like leather. We also purchased two end-tables and coffee table.
It was about a year after the purchase that we noticed that the recliner (only piece) was beginning to "crack" in the seat. I called Ashley and they told me that was too bad, but there was no warranty after the 1st year. I then contacted the maker of Durahyde... They had discontinued the material, and there was nothing they could do.
I am now stuck with a recliner, that has obviously had defective material used, and it is to where we can not sit in the chair, it is ripping. I would hoped the Ashley Furniture Store would at least offer me a discount on an other recliner to compensate the loss of this one to my set.
I waited 20 years to get my children raised and out of the house to have nice furniture... But we are embarrassed to have anyone sit in the recliner, which I keep a blanket tucked over the seat! I feel Screwed!!!
