Just a report on my dealings with USBI.
On my February bill from AT&T, there was a charge for $106.69 for long distance calls that I had made, billed by USBI on behalf of MCI. This was at the rate of $1.71 per minute for out-of-state and $1.19 for in-state calls. Total of 63 minutes.
I had not authorized a change in my long distance service. I got the service provider problem corrected, but still had the bill, which I eventually paid after my correct service provider issued me a refund check for the full amount.
On my March bill I get a charge from USBI for $9.91 for a "Federal Universal Service Fund Fee", which USBI says has to be paid. After talking with MCI, who says they have no record of any service at any time with them, I called USBI once again. (I had spoken with a guy there earlier and he & I had a very heated discussion.)
The lady there, after a long conversation with her, finally stated that she would isssue a credit for the full amount to my AT&T bill within the next one or two billing cycles. It remains to be seen if the credit ever gets credited to me.
It pays to keep a close watch on your phone bill as this cramming goes on all the time.
