I got what appeared to be an invoice for a small amt (under 20) for a magazine I never heard of and did not order. The tear off "bill" was titled "ACKNOWLEDGMENT" which also tipped me off as to the scammy nature of the bill. I figure that if you mail them anything, they'll claim it as an order.-There was no street address & no email address but there was a Wisconsin phone #.
I went online & found hundreds of scam reports on this company. I filed a complaint with the regional BBB office in Omaha. I called the # and gave the woman a piece of my mind, and she seemed to be quite accustomed to it. She tried to get information from me but I just kept saying CANCEL THIS NOW. She wouldn't do it until I asked for a supervisor, and then she said she would cancel it.
-Now we'll see what they'll do. Is there a 60 Min type show that can expose these frauds? I know many people will just pay, to "protect" their credit. It's got to be illegal to send you bills for nonexistent merchandise...
This scam seems to be the same as the NORTH STAR scam
