To Whom it May Concern;
On March 5 we were visited by a Frank Lacko at or about 8:00 pm with the purpose of selling me magazine subscriptions. He appeared very friendly and talkative while he was making his presentation. I purchased Family Fun, receipt no. 337382. Frank added without my approval a subscription entitled Turtle. My son Don Baker purchased Rolling Stone, receipt no. 337260 and he added without my approval Readers Digest.
I paid with check no. 2646 a total of $210.00 for the entire transaction. He stated that he needed to call his supervisor for check approval and asked me if he could use my cell phone. He appeared to place a phone call using said call phone, and appeared to be speaking to his supervisor. Prior to him leaving my home he placed a tag on my screen door with his name on it. I implored him not to visit the next door neighbor because she was scheduled to be at work early the next day but he visited her anyway.
The next morning I was reconciling my accounts and discovered the unapproved items. I also was reconciling my phone records for billing purposes and discovered no phone call was made during the time frame, leading me to believe he was misrepresenting himself to me and my son. That morning I contacted my bank and placed a stop payment on the check and furthermore I will be cancelling these subscriptions. The fee to place a stop payment is $25.00 and I will expect repayment from your company for this falsehood perpetrated on my family by Frank.
Your company has five business days from the date this is postmarked by the United States Postal Service to respond to me in writing. Failure to respond in the manner I have specified will result in legal action and may be turned over to the District Attorney for investigation and possible prosecution. I will place a copy of this letter with my attorney's office and my attorney may contact you at his or her convenience.
