This is a warning to drivers paying at the pump at Tuskawill Road Mobil Mart in Winter Springs, FL who are also purchasing a car wash, in particular the works wash.
This gas station has a special for $30 for 5 works washes. Apparently it is not clear when you select the number on the pump which is the individual $8 works wash, and which is the 5 for $30 works wash.
On 1/12/09 I was at this gas station to get gas and purchase an $8 works wash; I made my purchase at the pump. When I finished pumping the gas and recieved my recieipt I had $43.10 in charges. Looking at the receipt I saw that I had purchased a 5 works code for $30.00. No problem, I will go inside and ask them to back the charge off my card.
I proceeded into the store and told the lady there was a problem, I only wanted one works car wash, not 5. I don't live in the area, so I don't want to have to go over there to get my car washed when it needs it. She told me she couldn't take care of it, I would have to come back on Monday when the manager was there and he could do it. OK, not happy, but I can live with that.
Monday, I call the store at 8 A.M. And the phone is answered by the same lady I spoke to on Saturday. I ask to speak to the managar, she answers, I am the manager. Well, that is interesting, she told me she wasn't on Saturday. WTH??? So, I explained to her that I was in there on Saturday, charged for the 5 works wash that I didn't want and would like to have the charge taken off of my card. No she says, I paid at the pump, I must have selected that option, and she can't do anything about it. Really? Then why was I told on Saturday that the Manager could take care of it on Monday?
This is not about the money, I will eat it, this is about the principle of the matter. Sounds like a scam to me, especially since her credibility is non existent after lying to me. Is she the manager or isn't she? Why did she tell me the charge could be taken care of when the Manager was in on Monday, and now because I paid at the pump nothing can be done. If you don't want your business to look hokey, be truthful up front.
So consumer beware if you are paying at the pump at this gas station. Make sure you are choosing the correct option if you don't want to have to pay for 5 works washes in advance.
