The weekend after Thanksgiving my storage locker was broken into. I was not notified. I'd just happened to go by my storage on December 1. There was a new employee (which is nothing new) standing outside the office. She greeted me and went inside. I went to my storage and noticed a blue lock. I went to the office and the same individual that greeted me asked if there was a blue lock on my storage door. I said yes. She said that there was a break-in over the weekend. Didn't someone contact you? I said no.
She went on to say that they stayed until 6:30pm on Sunday to call as many people as they could and she was sure that they called me. She went as far to pull out a call sheet showing my locker number. She asked if they have my correct number and I said yes. I saw on the list that everyone in my section was contacted except for me and my locker is the first locker in the section.
So I had to wait for the assistant manager Mandy. Mandy started complaining about how late she stayed making phone calls and how her kids were bothering everybody. SO WHAT! That is not my problem! I told her that I trusted her company with my personal belongings and yet, you could not have the professionalism and decency to contact me. Mandy, asked, are you making a payment?
This is one time that my going over the counter and slapping her into oblivion, if that were possible and risk going to jail for. I had to purchase a new lock and then I walked away.
I was told that there were about 20 lockers broken into and it took several hours to call/not call and leave a message?
I had stored some electronics items because of Hurricane Ike. I am now out of over $3,000.00 worth of personal items.
I called the district manager three times and he never returned my phone call. I called the Corporate Office only to get the run around.
I am filing a formal complaint with the State Attorney General's office in both California and Texas. I suggest that others do the same to make sure a paper trail is created to protect us since Public Storage is not willing to do so.
I did receive a phone call but it was not from the District Manager, his name was Mr. Godwin. According to Mr. Godwin, he contemplated for about threee years in securing additional security cameras, however, due to budget constraints he could do so.
Excuse me!!!
I am taking the information from this site and I am submitting this to an attorney. I am not dealing with their B.S. Any longer.
