On January 15, I purchased 3 mangazine subscriptions from a door-to-door scam artist working for the disreputable True Vision, Inc. Based out of Chesapeake, VA. The young man gave the similar story I've now ready about on several scam reporting sites like www.complaintboard.com.
After the purchase, I failed to receive any of the subscriptions. After 9 months, I found the original receipt and, with a little free time, I set to follow up on my "missing" magazines.
I attempted to contact them via phone for weeks, but never got a live operator until Sept. 20. I spoke with a manager there who claimed that their distributor had gone out of business in early 2008 and that they were scrambling to make good on the orders and get them fulfilled but couldn't promise when I could expect to see the magazines. At this point, I only wanted my $ back. Per her direction, I faxed in a letter stating my complaint along with the original receipt. She stated that I would see my refund within 60 days.
Naturally, I received no refund, no magazines. Nada
Well, on January 5, I finally got a hold of a live person at True Vision, Inc. Funny enough (not funny ha, ha), after speaking with the representative and getting the obligatory "we'll need to investigate" story, I asked for the representative's name...
Mickey Clements, formerly Agent #30. I've since read about Mr. Clements from another complaint on complaintboard.com. Looks like Mr. Clements has made it to the big-time - management in a scam firm.
