Pruning a large bush in my yard one day I spotted the local neighborhood thief eyeballing my house for what I figured was a soon to be break in. I don't make alot of money, but what I have I worked hard for, and not willing to take chances with family in the house I decided to call Guardian as their name was the first that came to mind. A company rep was quickly at my door with briefcase in hand eager to help us with our problem. We did a survey of my house to discuss all this and that, went over options and all the bases that any good salesman would. Okay now it's time to do business., I want a one year protection contract with the sirens and automatic dial and the pet alley for the dogs and the nice little signs around outside that say forget it to the crooks. Having a very demanding job, one day runs into the next and the months go by, the bills keep arriving and you just pay them. Two years pass, I decide to drop guardian because I figure the threat has long since passed. Wrong! When I called them I was informed I had signed a FIVE year contract and would have NO chance of getting out of it! Surely somebody up the line would be sympathetic to this and meet me half way since I actually kept their service for a whole extra year anyway. Nope "You should have read the fine print"was the response they gave me. I was VERY clear, ONE YEAR!!! My departed father summed it up well, "they shook your hand with one hand and picked your pocket with the other"How true. They made my family feel more violated than the thief would have had we just left him break in., as a matter of fact I have more respect for the thief because he and everybody around here knows he's a thief and he doesn't profess to be anything other than a thief. So I paid for five years making sure all the payments in the last three were very late as I promised they would be, also as I promised I would tell everybody about their practices and blatant slight of hand techniqes any time any where the subject of home security comes up. Normally I don't register or sign up for anything on the internet, but when I stumbled on this site I had to, if for no other reason than to save the next person from trusting guardian. Everything I have written here is absolutely true and I'll never apologize or retract as a matter of principle even under threats of lawsuit.
