Rent a center, 5601 atlantic ave. = complete rip off, bad customer service, do not care about their customers

Before you rent from this location, read this information so you can choose to avoid them or do business with them with caution.

Here is what happened:

1. I rented an appliance from this company.

2. They show up to my place and dont even say hi and introduce themselves, were not friendly, did not smile.

3. They deliver the appliance and set it down in my living room, and basically tell me to "sign here!"

4. I told them to wait, i dont have a dolly so i cannot move this. You need to setup the appliance and plug it in.

5. They say nothing, so i remove the old appliance out of the apartment and I had to order them to take the new appliance to its place and plug it in. These guys were jerks and dont even care.

6.3 days later, I call their store and tell them the appliance is not working right. The girl says she will have the manager call. I also told her that something has to be done because they delivered an appliance that had ROACHES in the back of the appliance coming out and now i have roaches all over, and they need to hire a company to spray my house. I have a brand new apartment that was remodeled i just moved in, and lived here for 45 days with no evidence of roaches at all.

7. A few days later, i talk to the same girl, and told her he never called me. She said she would have him call me.

8. A few days later, i call myself and talk to the manager, and told him the appliance does not work and I also told him that they delivered an appliance that had ROACHES in it and now i have roaches, and they need to hire a company to spray my house. He said he would have someone come out and look at it.

9. The person never showed up. If they did, they would have left a RAC door hanger on my door, and never saw one which shows proof they showed up.

10. I decide not to call again and see if they do anything.

11.2 weeks go by, my first payment is due, and the manager calls me, and I told him I am not paying for 2 weeks for an appliance that does not work and he never sent anyone out. I told him i work at home and am at home every day and no one showed up. No proof. I told him i am not paying until the appliance is fixed and working, and the roaches are gone.

The manager then told me that they cannot fix any appliances, just replace them. I told him so when you supposedly sent someone out, that he was not even qualified to fix anything, he was just a grunt deliver person. The manager said yes! I told him he should have communicated that with me in the first place and that he knew of these problems for 2 weeks and did nothing, and now he wants payment?

I also told him the price he put on the contract was for a NEW appliance, and what they delivered to me was used, with huge scratches on outside of the appliance.

He offered to pick up my appliance since it does not work, and deliver a new appliance that works. BUT he has to get the one i have now. I told him that I was not stupid, that when he gets the appliance, he would never deliver the new one.

I called him back again and said OK, here is my payment but i was still expecting him to replace my appliance. He refused to take my payment which was only 2 days late (even when i had every right not to pay because he wanted me to pay for something that did not work). He then told me that does not matter now, my payment is 2 days late and he wants to pick up the appliance and chooses not to allow me to rent anything and not do business with me.

THE FACTS: I offered to make my $30 payment, I was only 2 days late, he delivered an appliance that does not work, he sent someone over who was really not qualified to fix anything, he refused to call me back and followup for 10 days, and he refused to accept my payment.

I told him that the only option was to see him in court and let a Judge decide what to do. He would love to hear this story and how RAC would never win.

2 weeks later, now they left a note on my door that i was making a big deal out of nothing, this is not that serious, and that i am 20 days late.

I know they are trying to attempt to get in my house to take the appliance. I want them to do what is right and replace the appliance, make sure it is working, and i will pay starting on the date it is actually working. But all they want to do is get in my house and take it.

So my only option is to wait and just go to court and have a judge force them to do what is right, and honor their contract they have with me.

Obviously, the easy way out of this, is to give them the appliance and never do business with them again. But they will just end up treating other customers the same way. So i refuse to let them get away with this so easily.

If anyone is having problems like this with RAC, they do not care about their employees or customers, just stop making payments until they fix the problem, and do not let them have access to your home. Go to small claims court and sue them for $1000. And let a judge punish them and force them to do what is right.

But be careful and do not allow them to have access to your home. If your children are home, i have heard stories that they will go into your home with NO adults present and take the appliances or furniture.
