I found this handyman on losangeles. Craigslist.org and he came to my house to give me a quote for some work to be done. (He went by the name John and his number is (424) 757-7757) When I spoke to him on the phone he said that he was located in Inglewood, but when he got there he said that he was from Beverly Hills. He provided me with a quote and we agreed to go ahead with the work. He explained that he would need $400 up front for the purchase of materials. I reluctantly agreed and wrote him a check. Please note that on the phone he said that his name was John, but he had me make the check out to Ehab Kiriacou.
He was supposed to begin work that Friday and assured me that it would only take one day. Friday morning I received a call from him saying that they would have to postpone until Saturday because the electrician's son was in the hospital. I am a reasonable person, so that was fine with me, but I told him that it had to be done Sat. Because I was having 50 people over on Sunday. We agreed that he would arrive the next morning around 8:30, but by 10am no one had arrived.
I called him and much to my surprise he answered. He said that he was on the freeway and that his electrician was ahead of him and should be there any minute. I waited and waited and around noon the electrician showed up without even a ladder or tools for cutting. When I asked him how his daughter was doing he had no idea what I was talking about and said that the guy had only called him the night before. So, the handyman skipped out on both the electrician and myself, and since he didn't pay the electrician he did a horrible job.
He cut huge holes in my wall and left them, stepped through my ceiling, cut holes for the recessed lighting that were larger than the cans he installed, and some of the lights didn't even work... It was a mess and it ended up costing me a ton of additional $ to get it fixed properly. I must have called the "handyman" a million times since then and I only get his voicemail, which conveniently does not list his name or a business name.
Watch out for this guy! Again, he went y the names John Antou, but cashed my check under the name Ehab Kiriacou. The number that he uses on all of his craigslist postings is (424) 757-7757.
