I called to find out about getting Dish TV. First, I started speaking to Tim (never gave me his last name), ask him about the service. He explained the products to me and I told him that I was just checking around that I may be interested later. Tim asked me to hold on and he got his manager Kim Whipple on the phone. Kim told me that if I signed up today with a credit card that they will be sending me a $100 gas card and a $50 Visa card to my email the same day but in order to do this they will need to debit my first month of service for $49.95 and it will be credited to my first bill when I received it. Still not convincing, I asked if I can call back later. She stated that if I didn't take the offer then I couldn't get it later. After this conversation, I questioned her again about the $49.95, the gas and visa card and she confirmed that the information above was correct.
On the same day of the conversation with Kim within 30 minutes I received the email but not the email that was promised. They sent me a bogus email that I had no knowledge of and the advertisement they sent was outdated in 2007. So I emailed them back and questionned them regarding the gas and visa card. I sent an email to them 3 times and never gotten a response. After no response, I called customer service and ask them about the email and was told they were sorry but that this information was outdated and they will send me the correct email. As of today, I have not received the email. So I decided to let it go as long as my $49.95 was credited to my account.
On September 2 I received my bill and didn't see my $49.95 credit. I immediately called the customer service number given to me by Tim and spoke to Maria (Dish Network) to find out why they didn't credit my bill for the $49.95 that was taken from my credit card. Maria stated that they never debited my credit card for $49.95 and I couldn't get credit for something they never got. She also stated that she didn't understand why my card would have been debited when there is no up-front cost to sign up for Dish Network as long as you commit to the 24 months of service, which I did. She stated that with the 24 months commitment that I did receive $50 off and 3 months service for HBO and Starz (promotional service). This offer is available to all customers with 24 month service commitment. She stated that the only thing they require is that they bill you for the first 2 months. I was told by Maria that I needed to call my credit card company and dispute the charges, which is what I did.
I advice anybody who's wanting dish tv to go directly to the company itself. There is a lot of outside sources working for Dish but make sure you sign up directly with Dish Network, www.dishnetwork.com.
This is one of the reasons our economy is so bad because of people such as this. If you lie, cheat and beat folks to get to the top you will never succeed. What goes up must come down. Be careful Kim Whipple if that's really your name. You could have lied about that as well. If its too good to be true then its probably a lie. Watch out for people like this.
