Pifers Towing of Mineralwells West Virginia was called by Wood County Sherrifs dept. To tow my truck for a bumper height violation. I had requested that Rocky's be called and not Pifers. Pifers towed my vehicle instead and caused over $3000 in damage to this vehicle.
The tow truck driver admitted to the owner (Mike Pifer) that he had damaged my vehicle. Mike had me bring the truck to him and show him what the damage was. He advised me that it could be fixed at Pifer's garage. I agreed to this. After a couple of months of Mike Pifer putting me off and avoiding me, I had to file suit against Pifers for the damage to my vehicle, which I did not want to do. Pifers' hired atty. (Bill Marimann) which ended up costing him more money in the end. After Bill Mariman delaying this case for over 9 months, I finally got my day in court. It was a jury trial. After calling Pifers X-employee, who towed my truck that night, Bill Marimann asked to talk to me off the record. After I accepted payment, the jury was dismissed. They paid me, but they said it wasn't for damages to the truck, but to make me happy, since they didn't want to admit they damaged my truck.in addition to paying me, Mike also had to pay Bill Marimann, court costs and jury fees.
I can't say that Pifers was found guilty in court, but I can say that Mike Pifer would not have paid me if he didn't feel that these damages had occurred to my truck as a result of their towing.
