How do i begin this nightmare,
Around 6:00pm a dog was hit infront of my house.
My wife saw it happen out our bedroom window.
The poor thing had escaped its fenced yard and ran straight out to the street, when a little truck hit it.
It looked bad, but the dog ran back to her yard and hid in a bush.
I got the dog out and went to the Emergency clinic all the neighbors were telling me about.
They don't really have a 'Business Name'. They are located at 718 Auburn Way N. And they rent the space out after hours from the Auburn Veterinary Hospital Inc PS. They call themselves the After Hours clinic.
When i got there, i was greeted by a young man who came off cold from the minute i met him.
I told him about the dogs situation, adn he told me they wont even look at him with out a $65.00 Fee upfront.
The dog was in bad shape, and was deep in shock with her left leg ripped open to the bone.
I asked him "What am i supposed to do?" He looked at me with a blank stare and said nothing.
I mean Nothing!
I was so angry, but i knew i had to do something now for the dog, So i shook my head and left.
Then I went to the local animal shelter, but mind you this is around 7pm Sunday evening.
CLOSED! No one there.
So i run back to my house, to get the $65.00 for the auburn clinic.
When i return, the young man answered the door again, and i told him i have the money, he again just stares at me and says" Well go get him"
My blood pressure is really on a climb now, Lol, but i maintain.
I bring the dog inside set him on the exam table.
No one will even look at him untill i fill out the paperwork.
I now explain to him, i am not the owner of the dog, but i had been in contact with the owner and she was on here way.
They insisted that I fill out the paperwork, or they wont look at the dog.
So i fill out my name and address, and in several places write in bold, I am not the owner of this dog.
So we get the BS out of the way, and then he slowly kinda looks at the dog, takes her temp, then tells us the doctor will be with us in a few mins.
The Doctor comes in within a few mins and looks the dog over a bit, and tells me that she is in very bad shape, tendons torn from the bone, needing xrays, extensive surgery ect. Could be over $1000.00
I tell him that i am not the owner, and she is on her way.
So he then gives the dog a shot for the pain.
(Sorry if i am rambling, but its coming to a boil real soon. Lol)
The owner finally shows up, and the doctor tells her whats goin on, and offers an estimate on what the dog needs.
$700-$1200
She of course does not have that kind of money aval.
We asked about options, will the dog make it thru the night?
Every question we asked, sent the young man off to a back room to ask the doctor.
It was getting really stupid, we told the youngman, to go get the doctor, so we are not playing this game of go see go see.
The doctor comes back, a lil myphed that we asked him to come back in for questions.
He basically told the owner that with out that kind of money, her only option was to put it down.
So as she is tryin to think it thru, there is a strong sence of "Hurry up" in the air.
So the owner has now made out a check to them to put the dog down.
When she looks at the bill she saw she was charged for that pain shot, wich we assumed was part of the orig. $65. We paid to get in the door.
Nothing was mentioned or asked, it was just given to her.
A little petty i know, but she was dipping into her rent money, and felt she should not have to pay that, when she didnt auth it.
And all the rudeness, and lack of compassion, I did not blame her.
The doctor told her that if she didnt pay the $30. For the shot, for us to take the dog and get the hell off his property.
I went into shock from his responce.
So the owner calls the police, being in panic for her dog, and seeing how this doctor snapped so fast.
He even yelled at me in re. To the shot, I told him you didnt ask me, his relpy was"You could have stopped me"
Then told me i need serious mental help, Out of the blue!
WHAAAT?
So now the doctor tells his lacky to call the cops, and tell them we refuse to leave.
Whaat?
We were waiting for them to cancell the check she gave them. And had no problems with getting out of this clinic.
So once the kid hands the owner her cancelled check we walked out the door, to greet An Auburn Police Officer.
Not a problem tho, as he couldnt do anything because it was a civil issue not a legal problem.
He also told us about some problems he had had in the past with this clinic, But thats not my story to tell.
I can not even believe what we went thru with this supposed Doctor and his cold lacky.
So to wrap this up, the owner took the dog to a vet the next morning, only to find out the following..
There are no broken bones, no damage to the tendons, only serious road rash and a deep cut, that is healing slowly but surely.
Now remember what the Auburn clinic told her?
She wrote the check to put the dog down, it was sighned and sealed, untill she fought about the $30 for the shot.
The dog is Doing so much better.
I am sick, I am mad as hell, and i want this guys licence.
How can he be that way when it comes to the animals well being, not to mention how he treated us, how they both treated us.
Sorry i rambled, but i felt it needed to be a little lengthy, so you understand all that went down.
What is wrong with people???
