Fraudulently opened an account and then doubled charged me for a security deposit

Stay away from at&t! On 08/15/08, I called AT&T for a basic telephone line. The rep advised I had to pay a $50 security deposit. I didn't have my card @ that time so the rep offered to call me back. When he did I decided to add internet to compare speed with my current ISP. I was placed on hold & then gave the rep my card info for the SD. I was given the # of 803-865-9158. I was placed on hold again, the order was taking awhile so the rep asked to call me back again.

I've worked inbound customer service for over 5 yrs so I was patient & could understand the reason for a callback. No problem. The rep called back & told me my card was declined (which I knew it wasn't) but my dumb ass gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him my card again to process the SD payment. He gave me a new # of 803-419-1082. Later on that day, I checked my account and realized I WAS charged for TWO security deposits ($100). I immediately called and was transferred twice before an older male rep assured me he would cancel the first order & refund my $50. I was still willing to give them a chance after they fraudulently opened an account.

I called about 3 days later and was told I had to wait 4 weeks to receive a check refund. Why when I gave u a card? And then, the rep explained that my bill would $45/mo, I asked for a $15 basic line. I had her remove everything that I didn't request. They I called to disconnect the account bc I was deceived EACH time by a diff person. I refuse to give my money to a bunch of hard up liars! I called last week & s/w Mr. Salerno & was told my account wasn't closed but he would do it & I should receive my refund in 5 days (which is up). I called yesterday and was told that they didn't have my correct address so it was going to take another 4 weeks. Enough is enough! AT&T is full of crap and they stink. Why do I have to wait 2 months to get a refund for a service never received and one I didn't request. STAY AWAY FROM AT&T, they're full of frauds and I want my money NOW!!!
