Okay, my best friend recently went to work for Dillard's. The first thing she learned in training was this: if you don't attain the required SPH (which I was told was REALLY high), your hourly pay is cut! These are tough economic times and a GOOD employer does not cut employee's pay during tough economic times. I'm guessing Dillard's does not appreciate a good work ethic or loyal employees.
She also told me her 'mentor' told her it was okay to go to other departments and 'help' customers when that department's associate was busy, but, to be sure to bring those sales to her mentor's department to be rung up on her mentor's register so her mentor would get credit for the sale. As of today, my friend is ready to quit after just three days at Dillard's! What a bunch of cut-throats!!!
My opinion is this: Dillard's is a cheap, profit-oriented, low-morale company, who stands to go bankrupt in just a few short years if Alex Dillard doesn't wake up and smell the chapter thirteen! I understand that when his father ran the company, it ran well, customer service was great and associates did not have an SPH (Sales Per Hour). Too bad the old man died and Alex got REALLY greedy.
Add to that the exhorbitant interest rate Dillard's charges on their credit cards! People are hurting thse days, no wonder Dillard's is losing business. Come October this year, the Boulevard Dillard's is closing. That's just the beginning. It will get worse. I wish my friend well in that company despite the bad vibes.
